Royal Dutch Shell, the oil and gas giant, announced that it is preparing to build a 20-megawatt solar power plant at its chemical manufacturing facility in Moore, the Netherlands.
Shell is expected to start construction of solar power plants this year. The project involved the installation of more than 50,000 solar photovoltaic panels on an unused piece of land in a chemical production facility. These panels will be enough to power 7,000 homes.
This project was developed by Shell's New Energy Company. Shell set up a special branch in 2016 to invest in renewable and low-carbon energy projects such as wind power.
